Fixing Your Squeaky Dress Shoes

Squeaky noise is emitted because of the ‘trauma’ the shoes go through. Loose heels, walking across wet ground or out of place inner soles are just some of the examples which cause squeaky noise. These are some of the ways to get rid of the noise.

Way 1. Seal the loose heels by placing a drop of adhesive cement on the side which meets the shoe. Try to hold the heel in place for one minute. Then, put it on a flat surface and allow the bond to adhere to the shoe completely. Leave it alone for one day.

Way 2. Look into the inner sole of the shoe. For removable ones, remove the sole and sprinkle some talcum powder, an alternative to liquid silicon, into the shoe. If the sole cannot be removed, sprinkle the powder into the shoe nonetheless. Talcum powder absorbs moisture which causes the squeak. Then use a paper towel to rub the powder into the sides of the shoe.

Way 3. If the squeaky noise is coming from the tongue of the shoe, rub a small amount of saddle soup into the tongue. If you want to keep your hands clean, then just simply place the soup on a rag and brush the shoe’s tongue against it.

Way 4. The exterior of the show also can cause squeaking noise because of lost oil. To solve this, a good spray of conditioning oil will do the trick. The conditioning oil is like a hair conditioner, it keep the shoes from drying out.

Way 5. If the cause of the noise is from the bottom of the heel, paint a light coating of rubber cement on the side facing the floor. This will provide a barrier. Allow it to dry completely before you wear the shoes.
