How to Tell Your Neighbors the Music is Loud?

Neighbors are like relatives. You don’t have the choice the choose them. But when it comes to neighbors, you’ll have to have a high tolerance to live in harmony but if their music is unbearably loud, it’s time to fight back.

Step 1. Speak up

Don’t get hostile when you speak to them. Tell them in a respectful manner of the volume tolerance you can absorb and at the current level it’s affecting you. Most of the time, neighbors may not know that the volume they put is disturbing your rest.

Step 2. Wait and see

After speaking to them, be patient and hear whether there’s a reduction of volume. To prove your point, make a recording for evidence purposes. This will come in handy when the situation is the same.

Step 3. Check with other neighbors

Get some feedback from nearby neighbors about the music volume. This is a cross check in considering whether you’re overly sensitive or it’s unacceptable by ordinary standard.

Step 4. Approach the management

There’s definitely someone whom you can talk to about your concerns. Bring along the evidence you collected in Step 2. If you’re living in an apartment, ask the management to do something about it. If you’re living in a housing area, you may need to go to the local authorities who will draw the guideline to your neighbors.

Step 5. Drastic measures

If all things fail, start looking for a better place to move. Take this as a blessing in disguise. Also, consider inviting the local papers to do a cover story. This should be a lesson to the authorities who failed to take proper action.
