Stains are not that difficult to remove. But it is worth the while to know what type of stain you are facing so that it is easy for you to tackle the problem. Here’s how:
Category 1. Mildew stains
Mix one cup of rubbing alcohol with one cup of water. Next, move on to moisten a cloth with the mixture and then wipe the affected area. Leave the shoes to air dry away from the heatsource.
Category 3. Water stains
If your shoes are soaked, let them air dry away from heat source. After the shoes are dried, restore softness with a leather conditioner.
Category 4. Grease stains
Blot the excess grease with a clean cloth. Then take some talcum powder or cornstarch and sprinkle it on the affected area. After four hours, wipe off the powder.
If you want to do any touch up if the stains discolor part of the leather shoe, get a leather colorant which matches closes to the original color of the leather.
However for permanent stains like ink stains, care must be taken so that the marks will not set in further into the leather or spread to the surrounding affected area. If you are not convinced with your skills, seek consultation with shoe clean expert.
